Land of the Dinosaurs

3.30.2013

dinosaur

Is anyone else excited that Jurassic park is coming out in IMAX 3D or excited for the upcoming 4th film? I have to say that when first I heard about both a few months back, I immediately started counting down the days until they reach theaters. For me Jurassic park was the movie that reminds me so much of my childhood. It became my favorite movie when I was 3, and I can still vaguely remember watching it over and over. Literally, over and over. When the movie would finish, I would rewind VHS and stick it back in the VCR and watch it all over again. I loved that movie so much that it made me to want to become a paleontologist. Sadly that dream ended when I realized that I’m terrible at science. I seriously took biology 3 times in high school. Well in my defense it wasn’t the same class 3 times. I only had to retake the first semester of regular biology and after that I took AP Biology. But despite taking that class so many times I still don’t remember a thing. Seriously, what is mitosis? I still have no clue. Although I didn’t achieve my dream of studying dinosaur fossils, I can settle for the next best thing, and that is to wear awesome clothing with dinosaurs on it and eagerly wait for both films to arrive in theaters.

Studs and Florals

3.28.2013

Jacket: Express // Top: TJ Maxx // Skirt:H&M // Shoes: Jeffery Campbell
// Clutch: TJ Maxx

For this outfit, I mixed a girly floral skirt with tough shoes and jacket. This leather jacket has been a staple item in my wardrobe for months now. I love how they can make a causal outfit look more put together and edgy. I have also been loving embellished collars. Weather it is covered in studs, like mine, or is covered in beads or sequins, I love how they can instantly transform any collard shirt.

A Brand New Year

1.02.2013

Beanie: Target // Scarf: H&M // Vest: DIY // Dress: TJ Maxx // Tights: Walmart // Shoes: Jeffery Campbell - Laurtec Cuff

Well what better way to celebrate the start of a brand new year then to wear a new pair of shoes? My sister bought me these Jeffery Campbell wedges for Christmas when Solestruck was having their Cyber Monday sale. I love how comfortable they are. I found them to be more comfortable then my pair of Litas, which hurt my feet after 3 hours of wear. I could never understand how people think that they are a comfortable shoe and that they can walk in them all day. Anyways, I hope all of you are having a great start to your new year and if you start school soon like I do, I hope u have a great quarter or semester!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! I hope all of you are having a gret time with your families and loved ones. Well, this is my Christmas outfit. Can you tell I love the color purple? Anyways, I'm sad that Christmas is over but I'm looking forward to New Years Eve! Well I'm going to keep this post short but, I hope all of you are having a wonderful Christmas!

The Killers San Diego Concert

12.09.2012

Jacket: Express // Shirt: The Killers website //  Jeans: Forever 21 // Purse: TJ Maxx // Boots: Miz Mooz

Well this outfit was what I wore to The Killers concert I went to on Friday. I went to the 91X Wrex the Halls Concert event which was at San Diego State University. The Killers were the headlining band and the bands playing before them were Audio Addiction, Young Blood Hawke, Imagine Dragons, The Joy Formidable, Tegan and Sara, Passion Pit and M83. I have to say it was amazing because hearing the Killers live is always great but this was one of the worst yet it was also one of the best concert experiences I've ever had. This is a long story but here is what happened...

Field Trip

8.03.2012

Dress: LC Lauren Conrad Kohls // Shoes: Delias // Ring: Forever 21 // Earrings: Betsey Johnson

I was last minute dress shopping for a party that I was going to and I was looking for something that I could wear with my Jeffery Campbell Spiked Litas, but I was having a hard time finding anything that I had liked. So the day of the party I had quickly went to TJ Maxx but I came up empty handed.  Then I had remembered that there was a Kohls a few stores down. As I was looking through the store, I found this Lauren Conrad dress. I had really liked it but I knew that it wasnt going to go with my spiked litas but I remembered that I had a field trip the folowing monday for school where we were told to dress business casual. I know that I do not own anything business casual, so I thought this dress would work with that if I wore a nude blazer on top. However It ended up being too hot to wear the blazer so I just wore this dress alone.

What made me really decide to buy the dress was the fact that it was the last one left in the store and it was my size. I also thought that this dress would be perfect for any other occasion besides the field trip. I also really enjoy the mint green color and the flower and bird pattern on the dress.

Sweet Summer

Shirt: H&M // Skirt: TJ Maxx // Shoes: TJ Maxx // Necklace: H&M // Belt: TJ Maxx // Bag: Thrifted

I have been loving the sheer maxi skirt trend. I love how you get the look of a maxi, but you get the appearance of wearing a normal skirt because of the sheer fabric. I've always been apprehensive of trying regular maxi skirts and dresses because I feel like I'm not tall enough for it. However, since my legs are still visible, I feel a little more comfortable wearing this skirt.

Simple Black Dress

6.19.2012

I got this dress from TJ Maxx last week and I absolutely love it! I love the cut out at the sholders and I like how it came with a cheetah print belt. Since this dress is so simple I can wear almost any shoe with it, so I decided to wear my purple heels that I bought for my junior year home coming dance and I wore my purple Betsey Johnson bag to match.

Finials

6.11.2012

Wow, I can't believe that it has already been a week since I posted my last outfit! Well this past week I have been focusing on studying for my finials and finishing up all of my projects for my classes. I cant wait for this week to be over because I'm excited to start my summer break. As I mentioned in a previous post, my school only gives us 3 weeks for break, so I'm really looking forward to make the most of it.

Middle School Memories

6.04.2012

Today I chose my outfit surrounding my denim vest. My mom had stitched this skull on this what was denim jacket years ago back when I was in middle school and obsessed with Pirates of the Caribbean.

Like seriously I was obsessed.

I knew every word to the movie,  I had to buy every type of P.O.T.C. merchandise known to man ( I own a 18"action figure of Captain Jack Sparrow that makes sounds when it detects motion, or at lest that is what the box claims. I wouldn't know because I never opened it because I bought it with the intention of keeping it in mint condition forever.), I attended the P.O.T.C.premiere for movies 2 and 4, and I bought anything that had to do with pirates in general.

I would even spend hours reading about real pirates. I don't remember why, but I remember that Captain Kidd was my favorite.
Anyways, when my mom had stitched the skull on the jacket I was kind of coming down from my Pirates of the Caribbean obsession (only to be replaced briefly by The O.C. and then finally over to Lost) and not only that, but she had stitched it on a jacket that was way to big for me at the time so I never wore it.

So recently I found this jacket and it brought back a lot of middle school memories.
Although a lot of people hate middle school because it is filled with a lot of useless drama, middle school was some my favorite years in school.

Anyways, back to the jacket.  I really wanted to wear it; however, it was still too big. So to make it more wearable, I cut off the sleeves and I'm planning to add studs and spikes to make it look even cooler.
Thank you to all of you who wrote nice things about my Photoshop project. It really sucked when I got to class this morning and realizing that I had never saved it to my flash drive. But luckily I had saved every image I used and I had remembered what I had done so recreating it only took me an hour. :)

Humming bird

6.01.2012

I started the begging of this week feeling really stressed out because finials week is just two weeks away and I have a Photoshop project that I had not even started yet. My assignment is to create a surrealist self portrait. When my instructor first gave us the assignment I assumed that it was going to be easy because i could just take random things and put them together in an image and I would be done with it. But it took me two weeks to come up with an idea that I kind of liked. So this week when I began to work on my assignment I quickly realized that my idea was going to be too hard for me to actually create since Im still a beginner with Photoshop. So I had to completely start over with my protect which was starting to make me nervous since I had spent so long coming up with the fist idea, but as I started to brainstorm again I came up with a new concept that not only would be easier for me to create but would actually look way better then my previous idea. So today I actually finished most of my project and I can actually finish it a week before it is due! Here is what i have so far!

Asymmetrical

5.29.2012

I love the asymmetrical skirt trend! I have been on the lookout for a simple chiffon hi low skirt for a few months now but I could never find one. The ones I came across were not made of chiffon, didn't come in the color I wanted, too expensive or didn't have my size anymore. So I kept running into a lot of problems when I was searching online to order one, which I thought was odd since I just wanted a simple one.  Anyways, so when I came across this one at TJ Maxx I got really excited because it had everything I was looking for. Although it wasn't black, which is the color I had originally wanted, I thought that this color was nice. A few days later when I was at Forever 21, I got lucky and found a black one that someone just randomly stuck between other clothes.  So for not being able to find any hi low skirts, I got pretty lucky finding two in the same week that each were priced under $20!

Also while I was putting my outfit together I noticed that everything in wearing is pretty much from TJ Maxx. I honestly shop there way too much.  But I have been getting really lucky finding great items there lately.

Anyways thanks for visiting my blog!!

23

5.24.2012

Since my spring quarter is quickly coming to an end, I was starting to plan out what I would do this summer. But just as I was beginning to get excited for break, I found out that my school only has 3 weeks for summer vacation. :'( I was really bummed out because I thought I was going to get about 2 months of break but instead Ill be getting a little less then a month before I have to start a new school year. So now I feel like I have to make the most of my three week break because I wont get another until December. :(

Anyways was everyone else sad that yesterday, May 23, was the 2 year anniversary that LOST ended? LOST is my favorite show and I was seriously obsessed with it! Two years have past and I am still so sad its over. :( Does anyone else love Lost?

20th Birthday

5.19.2012

This past Tuesday I celebrated my 20th Birthday at the Aquarium of the Pacific. I wanted to go to the aquarium because I went there once for a field trip when I used to be in Girl Scouts. Although I don't remember what the aquarium was like, I just remember having a lot of fun there. So to celebrate my birthday, my family and I decided to spend the day in Long Beach and go to the aquarium and then go out to dinner afterwards.

Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday on my previous posts! :)

Mothers Day

5.14.2012

To celebrate Mothers Day, my mother wanted to go to The Getty in Los Angeles. I've heard a lot of great things about this museum from a few of my professors so it was cool to go and see what it was like. I do have to say that my favorite thing about the museum was the restaurant there. Although seeing the art was cool, the food was delicious. :)

The middle of May is always a busy time. With mothers Day, my birthday on May 14 and my sisters birthday on May 15, my family is always extremely busy doing different things to celebrate each others days. I am especially excited this year because for my birthday we are going to the Aquarium of the Pacific! :)

Anyways, thanks for checking out my blog and I hope all of you had a great Mothers Day!

Spring Showers

5.01.2012

Well it has been over a week since I last posted but I am happy to say that I have finished all of my midterms! Its hard to believe that the quarter is halfway over; I feel like it just started. I have noticed that the time between the start of the quarter to midterms flies by but the time between midterms to finals always takes forever. I cant wait for this quarter to end because I am looking forward to summer break! I miss hot summer days! Where I live we have had a mix of really hot days and cold rainy ones.  Last week the temperature was in the 80's but today it was raining. I wish it would just stay hot so I can wear more dresses, skirts, and shorts. :)

Galaxy Cat

4.20.2012

When I saw this shirt on Forever 21's website I instantly fell in love with it. I adore the cat face mixed with the galaxy print on it. For the rest of this outfit I just decided to wear black and add a purple purse to go with the purple in the shirt. Anyways I hope you guys are having an amazing Friday and thanks for visiting my blog! :)

Spring Afternoon

4.08.2012

Earlier this week I was going through my closet and choosing the items I do not wear anymore so I can donate them. While I was going through my closet I came across this skirt that I got it a few years ago from H&M on Black Friday.  For some reason I only wore it a few times and forgot about it. When I found this skirt I could not believe why I don't wear it more often so I decided to wear this skirt since the temperature has been getting warmer.  Anyways, I hope all of you are having a great Easter!

Casual School Outfit

4.04.2012

Sadly, my spring break has just ended and I've started my spring quarter. But I am happy that I'm one quarter closer to summer break! Although it's pretty warm where I live, I still like to wear my boots and a light jacket because I always get really cold inside classrooms.
